KeyBank Robbed on First Day in Edmonds

That sure was a rude introduction to Edmonds.

Six hours after Chamber of Commerce officials welcomed KeyBank with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on its first day open in Edmonds, it was robbed.

Edmonds Police responded to the bank at 9930 Edmonds Way in Westgate shortly after 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. Mike Blackburn.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old and 5’9” with a thin build. He was wearing a gray-and-green beanie-type cap, an olive green sweater with horizontal gray stripes, and baggy blue jeans.

The suspect told employees that he was armed with a handgun. He fled from the bank on foot.

Edmonds Police, with the help of a Lynnwood Police K-9 unit, conducted a search of the surrounding area. As a precaution, Westgate and Sherwood elementary schools, as well as Scriber Lake High School, were placed in lockdown. All three schools resumed regular activities at 3:10 p.m.

No one was injured during the crime.
