The sizable quake hit around 10 p.m. Wednesday near Port Townsend.

PORT TOWNSEND, WA - A magnitude 3.1 earthquake hit under Puget Sound Wednesday night. The quake was located under the water between Port Townsend and Coupeville. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was strong enough to be felt as far south as Lynnwood, Bainbridge Island, and Gold Bar.
The quake hit at around 10 p.m. Wednesday at a depth of 23 kilometers, which is considered shallow. So far, over 130 people have reported that they felt shaking.
The magnitude 3.1 isn't the only recent earthquake in Puget Sound. There were two very small earthquakes in West Seattle on Sunday and Monday, each registered as about a magnitude 1.1 - too weak for anyone to feel.
