Man Dies After Snohomish Deputies Put Him In Handcuffs
The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating the death.

EVERETT, WA - A 40-year-old man died after being placed in handcuffs by Snohomish County deputies Thursday night. The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) is investigating the death, and the two deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave.
According to the sheriff's office, two deputies went to a home along the 13300 block of Highway 99 Thursday around 8:30 p.m. on a report of an assault. When the deputies arrived, they met the 40-year-0ld suspect, who had allegedly assaulted his father, in the driveway of the home.
About one minute after putting handcuffs on him, the deputies requested medical aid and began CPR. He was pronounced dead around 9:30 p.m., according to the sheriff's office.

The SMART team will investigate what led to the in-custody death and forward the results to the prosecutor's office. The SMART team is comprised of detectives from police departments across Snohomish County.
