Maryland Felon Leads Cops On 100 MPH Chase Down I-5

The chase ended when the man, wanted for assault, crashed into a tree in Shoreline.

EDMONDS, WA - A man wanted for assault in Maryland led Snohomish County police on a 100 MPH chase down I-5 Tuesday night. The crash ended when the 25-year-old lost control of his car and crashed into a tree.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force tried to pull over a car near 128th Street and I-5 in Everett. The driver took off, leading cops south down I-5 at speeds above 100 MPH.

The suspect made it about 12 miles before he suddenly swerved off the highway at 175th Street in Shoreline. The driver lost control of the car, hit a dividing wall, and then crashed head-on into a tree.

The driver, who is from Everett, was taken to jail on the Maryland warrant, which was for three counts of aggravated assault with a gun. His 23-year-old passenger was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor fraud warrant from New York City.
