The Old Elf Raising Money For Struggling Edmonds Family

The Old Elf, based in Edmonds, will donate 10 percent of its sales to a family of six adopted children facing health issues.

EDMONDS, WA - An Edmonds business has mounted a fundraiser to help a big family with medical bills and holiday expenses. The Old Elf is donating 10 percent of its sales to the family, which is comprised of two parents and their six adopted children.

The fundraiser will last throughout November and December. There is also a GoFundMe fundraiser seeking to raise $2,000. That fundraiser, as of Nov. 24, was about halfway to its goal.

The parents, Esther and Diane, initially began fostering the six children, who all have special needs, but later decided to adopt them all. The children - Carmen, Chris, Chad, Lizzy, Tay Tay, and Timmy - range in age from 6 to 15.

The family has struggled recently after one of the parents suffered a stroke. She also lost her job due to health issues.

"We are doing this fundraiser to help provide the family not only an amazing Christmas, but relief with some of the expenses that they are now struggling with on a smaller income and medical bills coming in," The Old Elf co-owner Andrea Thorfinson wrote on the GoFundMe page.
