Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Amia Nash

The senior at Edmonds-Woodway High is a three-sport star who also excels in the classroom with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Name: Amia Nash, 18, nominated by EWHS math and athletics instructor Julie Stroncek.

School: Edmonds-Wodoway High School

Accomplishments: “Amia Nash is one of the most amazing kids I’ve had the pleasure of teaching and working with,” said Stroncek. “She has been involved in ASB (Associated Student Body) all four years, and has a perfect 4.0 GPA while taking a very demanding and rigorous course load, including numerous IB (International Baccalaureate) and AP (Advanced Placement) classes. In a time when we see very few three-sport athletes any more, not only does Amia participate in three sports, but she excels in all three. Amia has participated in the state tournament in cross country, basketball and track. She has participated in the state track meet all three years and finished fifth in state in the 400 meters as a junior last spring. Amia owns the school record in the 400 meters, and is also a member of the school’s record-setting relay teams in both the 400- and 800-meter relays. In her ‘spare’ time, Amia still makes time to be a super fan. You can find her at numerous sporting events decked out in her purple and green, cheering on her classmates as they compete.”

Keys to Awesomeness: “Great work ethic and motivation, and a very selfless person with great family support.”
