Rally Opposing Increased Train Traffic Planned Next Week in Edmonds

Supporting the rally are the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Edmonds, Port of Edmonds, Edmonds Senior Center, City of Edmonds and Snohomish County Fire District 1.

In an effort to raise public awareness about the growing number of railroad trains going through Edmonds, a “Don’t Block Our Beach” rally will take place at Brackett’s Landing South (adjacent to the ferry dock) next Wednesday at 11 am.

The rally is sponsored by a coalition of the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce, Sustainable Edmonds, Port of Edmonds, Edmonds Senior Center, City of Edmonds and Snohomish County Fire District 1.

All are concerned about public safety and access to the waterfront as train traffic increases.

“The safety and accessibility of our waterfront is at stake here," said Edmonds Myaor Dave Earling.

"With the Senior Center, an international underwater dive park, the Port of Edmonds, and ferry transport, as well as several beaches, we need access to our beachfront 24/7.”
