Search For Edmonds Man Missing After Plane Crash Suspended

Lee Elliott, 70, was identified Sunday as the man whose plane crashed in Eagle Harbor off Bainbridge Island on Sunday.

EDMONDS, WA - The 70-year-old man still missing after a Sunday plane crash off Bainbridge Island has been identified as a carpenter from Edmonds. Lee Elliott and his wife, Joan Burns, crashed in Eagle Harbor Sunday afternoon.

Burns was found shortly after the crash and taken to Harborview with critical injuries. The Coast Guard and other agencies searched for Elliott until about 2 p.m. Monday. Authorities have notified Elliott's family that he was aboard the plane.

Elliott's 1974 Cessna crash around 5 p.m. Sunday near the Bainbridge Island ferry dock. Good Samaritans found Burns floating in the water. Rescue crews searched for Elliott over a wide area, from Eagle Harbor south to Resoration Point at the south end of the island.
