"Sense of Place" Art Exhibit

Gallery North's November Show Features Artists Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom

Gallery North announces its November exhibit “Sense of Place” with artists Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom. The exhibit features colorful paintings in watercolor, acrylic, and pastel and Eve’s unique jewelry.

Inspired by their love of nature and travel, both artists often add people in their paintings to help capture the emotion felt in a moment. “We try to evoke a sense of place that draws us back to the memory of that moment of inspiration,” explains Eve Ingraham. Both Eve Ingraham and Lauriel Sandstrom are members of Gallery North, the Northwest Watercolor Society, and Seattle CoArts

Eve Ingraham found her love of painting while teaching young children. After forty years in the classroom, she says, “I now find joy with a paintbrush in my hand.” She just returned from painting trips to Spain, France, and Hawaii. Eve also loves to sketch and paint Northwest mountain, water, and city scenes. She works in watercolor, pastel, and mixed media. Eve Ingraham also is an experienced jewelry artist and her unique jewelry will be on display during the show. Eve loves to highlight the luster of metal and the power of gems in her work. Eve loves to create jewelry pieces that transcend the materials and reveal a striking, simple beauty. This show features her woven metal work.

Lauriel Sandstrom came to watercolor painting after her retirement as a flight attendant. Traveling throughout the world, she has enjoyed experiencing many cultures and environments. Lauriel attempts to absorb a place and describe it with her emotive play of color. She is inspired to paint people in motion, sunlit scenes, and flowers. “My goal with my paintings is to share the luminescent glow that I find so captivating,” says Sandstrom.
