Spike and the Impalers Bring Classic Rock to Edmonds

Popular Pacific Northwest radio personality Bob Rivers, returning to Seattle airwaves in April, is making an encore appearance with his popular band featuring Kaci Aitchison of Q13 Fox News.

One of the more popular bands ever to perform at the , Spike and the Impalers, is back in town. The group, formed by famed Northwest radio announcer Bob Rivers and co-host Spike O’Neill, will play a high-energy brand of oldies rock covers on Saturday.

Also on board is vocalist Kaci Aitchison, an original member of the band when it formed during Rivers’ 10-year run at KZOK. Aitchison worked with The Bob Rivers Show, which plays classic rock, but has since gained a much higher profile at Q13 Fox News, where she reports on features for the station’s morning news. She also recently began hosting the TV station’s first broadcast, at 4:30 a.m.

Check out an inspiring video of Kaci and Spike and the Impalers performing with students from Bishop Blanchet High School and Holy Names Academy.

Those who follow Rivers’ radio career — and he has many fans — know that he left KZOK in September after failing to reach a contract agreement with the station. Fans won’t have to wait much longer, as The Bob Rivers Show returns to airwaves on April 1 on Clear Channel Oldies 95.7 FM. "I'm ecstatic at the opportunity help make the legendary KJR Oldies 95.7 FM number one in Seattle,” Rivers said in a statement, “and to be a part of Clear Channel Seattle's local and digital future.”

Of course, the show will once again spotlight Rivers’ "Twisted Tunes" parodies, as well as his on-air team of Spike O'Neill and "Downtown" Joe Bryant. The show will also be heard online at oldiesseattle.com and iheartradio.com, as well as via the iheartradio mobile application on iPods, Blackberry, Droid and other smart phones.

Who knows? You may even hear a few “Twisted Tunes” in Edmonds. What you will definitely hear are at least two new tunes added to Spike and the Impalers’ repertoire: The Faces and Rod Stewart’s “Stay With Me” and Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Born on the Bayou.”

Other songs in the repertoire? We can’t guarantee you’ll hear them all, but Spike and the gang do killer versions of “Layla,” “Paradise City,” “Highway to Hell,” “Somebody to Love,” “Suffragette City” and many others.

It’s gonna rock.

Tickets for Spike and Impalers on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Edmonds Center for the Arts are $30-$40. The show is at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Edmonds Center for the Arts or by calling 425-275-9595.
