Thousands In Edmonds Lose Power During Windstorm

At least 2,000 people in Edmonds lost power Monday afternoon as a serious windstorm rolled through the area.

EDMONDS, WA - The strong windstorm that hit Puget Sound Monday night caused multiple power outages across Edmonds. Two major power outages were reported in Edmonds Monday afternoon near 4 p.m. and left about 2,300 without power, according to the Snohomish County Public Utility District.

Power was restored to all but a few dozen people as of 5:30 p.m., according to the utility. More outages popped up throughout the night knocking out power for more than 1,500 people living between Woodway and Esperance.

Meanwhile, Edmonds police reported multiple trees down and intersections with no power.

"Do not drive around road closed signs. Treat no signal intersections as 4-way stops," police wrote on Twitter.

The two largest outages in Edmonds were surrounding Lake Ballenger and in Woodway. Scattered outages hit neighborhoods northeast of the downtown area.
