Three Murals to Go Up in Edmonds This Year After 5 in 2011
The theme is "An Edmonds Kind of Day." Two will be on Fifth Avenue, and one on Main Street.
The Edmonds Mural Society has announced the three murals they will be mounting this summer. The murals are chosen through a six-month, three-stage elimination process.
Each year, the members choose a theme and artists present concepts that capture that theme in a mural. For 2012, the members chose the people-related theme of "An Edmonds Kind of Day," which is also the unofficial Edmonds slogan.
"We're really quite pleased with all the concepts submitted this year," said Society municipal liaison Jeff Stilwell. "The artists really took that theme in directions few foresaw."

The muralists, murals and locations are:
- John Osgood: "Untitled" (504 Fifth Ave. S., rear of Girardi's Osteria)
- Ellen Clark: Edmonds "Entertains" (313 Main St., side of Edward Jones)
- Susan Babcock: "Winter Walk" (104 Fifth Ave. N., near Edmonds Historical Museum)
"Each of the finalists is a very striking image," said membership director Manya Vee. "Just as with the others, each of these will be claimed a favorite by Edmonds residents."

"It's amazing to think that we are going to be able to raise three more murals this summer," Stilwell added. "We cannot do with this without the wonderful support given us by the residents of Edmonds."
The Edmonds Mural Society has raised eleven murals to date——all in downtown Edmonds. The Mural Society funds the murals completely through membership dues and donations.
