Violent Edmonds Carjacker, Spewing Racial Slurs, Caught By K9

He held an Edmonds couple at gunpoint Sunday night during an attempted carjacking, according to police.

EDMONDS, WA - Edmonds police caught a gun-toting, racial-slur spewing carjacking suspect Sunday night. The criminal was ultimately located by K9 Hobbs as he hid in a wooded area off Cedar Street.

The carjacker on Sunday evening held a couple at gunpoint along the 1000 block of Maple Street, just west of Yost Park. The suspect eventually gave up and fled the scene in a van that had been stolen earlier in the day in Seattle.

When police arrived at the scene, K9 Hobbs picked up a scent and followed it just a few blocks south to where Cedar Street ends east of 9th Avenue South. When police took the 31-year-old suspect into custody - with the help of Hobbs - he was shouting racial slurs at them, police reported.
