Washington Man Accused Of Sending Photos Of Dying Teen He Raped
Washington man raped a teen dying from a drug overdose, then texted photos and boasted in a group message to friends, police said.

LYNNWOOD, WA — As she was dying from a drug overdose, 18-year-old Alyssa Mae Noceda was raped by a man who then sent pictures of her semi-nude, unconscious, blue-lipped body in a group message to his friends, using a profanity to boast he had intercourse with her to “pass the time,” investigators in Lynnwood, Washington, said.
Robert Varela wrote in the group message to his friends: “LOL I think she od’d, still breathing,” police said. Varela, 19, of Lynnwood, was arrested Tuesday and is under investigation for rape, manslaughter and homicide by controlled substance, according to published reports.
When he discovered Noceda had died, he used the dead teen’s thumb to unlock her iPhone and posted a message on the Snapchat app to make her friends and family think she had run away, police said.

According to court documents, Varela told his roommate Noceda had snorted a line of crushed Percocet pills, an opiate, and had taken a “dab” of liquid THC, a powerful concentrate of the main mind-altering ingredient in marijuana, before passing out. Police said Varela admitted Noceda seemed "out of it" when he had intercourse with her.
Varela’s arrest came the same day police discovered the young woman's body stuffed in a black plastic bin inside the mobile home Varela shared with a roommate. The roommate reportedly told police he urged Varela to call authorities the morning of Sunday, Feb. 4, when Varela reportedly showed him the Noceda’s dead body.

Instead of calling police, Varela went to work a double shift at a local Dairy Queen, The Herald in Everett, Washington, reported. At his job, he again bragged that Noceda had died during intercourse and said he wanted to take her to the hospital, but was “too tired” and went to sleep, a coworker told police. The report said Varela described stuffing Noceda’s body in crate, as well as his plans to bury her at a place he’d found near Marysville.
The coworker called police Tuesday after seeing Facebook posts Norceda’s mother saying her daughter had failed to come home from a party she had gone to about 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.
In a bond hearing Wednesday, Deputy Prosecutor Bob Hendrix said Verala showed “a callous and shocking disregard for human life.”
A Go Fund Me campaign was established to help the teen’s parents, Ernest Noceda and Gina Pierson, raise money for a funeral and memorial service for their daughter. Nearly $5,300 had been raised by late Friday afternoon.
