Whiz Kids of the Week: EW Spring Sports Teams

Accomplishments: The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) recognizes and rewards sports teams that maintain a high collective academic standard. Any varsity team with a grade-point-average of 3.5-4.0 qualifies for an Outstanding Award, while those with a GPA of 3.0-3.49 qualify for a Distinguished Award.

Congratulations to the following spring team, the coaches, parents and teachers. Based upon their first semester GPA's, all eight EW varsity teams have earned the following recognition from WIAA:

•    Edmonds-Woodway girls’ golf  (3.787 GPA)—Outstanding Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway girls’ basketball (3.649 GPA)—Outstanding Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway girls’ tennis (3.625 GPA)—Outstanding Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway boys’ golf  (3.371 GPA)—Distinguished Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway fastpitch (3.248 GPA)— Distinguished Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway boys’ track (3.107 GPA)—Distinguished Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway baseball (3.087 GPA)—Distinguished Award
•    Edmonds-Woodway boys’ soccer (3.083 GPA)— Distinguished Award
