Woman Killed By Train In Edmonds: Police Conclude Investigation

The woman was killed on Sunday night while crossing tracks near Haines Wharf Park.

EDMONDS, WA - Edmonds detectives have concluded an investigation into the death of a Lynnwood woman who was hit and killed by a train along tracks near Haines Wharf on Sunday night.

Detectives believe the 41-year-old woman died accidentally while trying to cross northbound train tracks as a passenger train approached. The Snohomish County Medical examiner determined the manner of death to be accidental.

The accident happened around 7:10 p.m. on Sunday night in the area of the 16100 block of 75th Place West, just north of Haines Wharf Park. The woman's husband was in the vicinity, but was not near the tracks, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger train that hit her was empty at the time of the accident, police said.
