World Premier x 8

Many years ago I got to attend the World Premier of Dances with Wolves at the Uptown Theater in Washington, D.C.  My friend and I sat right in front of Kevin Costner, his wife, and most of the cast members.  PRICELESS!

Fast forward to 2013 where I eagerly await the July 12-14th Fourth Annual Festival of Shorts which is presented by the Driftwood Players in Edmonds, WA @ the Wade James Theater (950 Main St).  Since our move to Edmonds in July 2010, my husband and I have been to 16 World Premiers.

The Festival of Shorts is what I fondly call a “World Premier times 8”.

Yes indeed, you get to enjoy eight one-act/never performed plays…four before intermission…four after intermission.   And best of all, you the audience get to vote on which play is your favorite!

The request for submissions of the plays to be considered has somehow gone viral on the web.  Each year the number of submissions grows and now submissions come from all over the world!  This year our readers had to wade through 250+ scripts, then narrow them down to just 8.

Directors and actors vie for a chance to handle truly “new” material.  They will be able to add

to their resume that they were part of a World Premier.

So don’t wait to get your tickets.  The Festival of Shorts only runs for 3 performances:  Friday-Saturday 8pm, and Sunday 2pm.  Cost is only $14/person.
