216th Avenue Construction update

TRAFFIC ALERT:

There will be periodic lane closures. with lanes being shifted to accommodate some utility and road work during construction hours. Occasional delays especially during peak hours is expected. Construction will be 4 days/week; Monday through Thursday from 7AM to 5PM. Please consider using alternate routes during peak traffic hours on these days.

WEEKLY UPDATE: Construction on 216th Avenue SE, from SE 272nd Avenue (SR 516) to SE 283rd Street of the joint utility trench for the conversion to underground power and communications lines has been completed. Comcast will be pulling wire through the new underground conduit starting next week. Undergrounding for dry utilities along the east side north of SE 276th Street and fire hydrants are being relocated by Covington Water District will be wrapped this week. The completion of the new storm line with cleaning and testing is scheduled along with starting the removal of asphalt pavement. Portable messaging signs are stationed at the north and south ends of the project. The sidewalk along the west side of 216th will remain open at all times.
