Air Stagnation Advisory in Place Until Saturday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued an air stagnation advisory for western Washington that will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Saturday.

A strong, low level temperature inversion will limit mixing and trap pollutants near the surface, the advisory said. Air quality is expected to improve on Saturday as a cold front moves inland bringing possible snow to lowland areas.

A was issued Wednesday for King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap counties.

An air stagnation advisory means that limited movement of the air mass over the advisory area will allow pollution to increase to dangerous levels. Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution.
