All I want is my fair share

Charlie’s little sister, Sally Brown, spoke it loud and clear

All I want is what I have coming to me.

All I want is my fair share.

We gasp and guffaw, but don’t you see

You hear the complaints that Christmas has become sordid,

Commercialized; we’re traumatized and bitter.

It’s not the same as when I was a kid.

The greedy merchants ruin it for us each winter

We declare our displeasure and vow to differ.

But yet, how many of us are willing to be the standout?

Christmas is a religious holiday—no need to apologize.

Do you give the bell ringers or other charities a huge handout?

Is there a nativity scene on display in your yard for spying eyes?

Do your Christmas cards feature shepherds, angels and men so wise?

Christmas is for everyone: drifter, child, and archdeacon,

I know you’ve heard it said year in and year out

That Jesus is the reason for the season--

Keep Christ in Christmas—yes He is what it’s about

Declare it by saying Merry Christmas to all with a shout.

The fact that Christmas has changed over the past decades

Should give you hope that it can change again to the way that it was.

Stop whining, be the change, sing accolades and swear out tirades!

Proclaim from your own heart to revert back to the true joy of Christmas

Don’t focus on others—have a splendid birthday celebration for the Baby Jesus.

It’s true—as in all worldly difficulties and dilemmas —

That you are only one; yet all change begins with a dream.

If it is your personal desire for a Christmas of old fashioned agendas

Then set small goals that will make a difference eventually in the extreme;

And if we are faithful, the greed of the world will no longer rule supreme.

There’s no harm in enjoyment of conventional Christmas cartoons,

Rudolph, Frosty, and Charlie Brown have religious undertones and fine morals.

Just try to focus, I say it again—Jesus is the reason for the season.

There is no need for feelings of distress, depression, or quarrels—

Christmas can bring a warm fuzzy feeling like heavenly angels singing chorals.

Simply back away from the plastic, commercial, and phony

Be mindful of attempts to sway you and tempt you.

Money will still be sought by Walmart, Amazon, and Sony.

Display the nativity proudly; Mary, Joseph, the Christ child and shepherds too.

Oh wise man, you’ll get your fair share if you spend time in the pew.
