Volunteer at Local Cannery to Feed The Hungry

The South King County Food Coalition, Northwest Harvest, the LDS Cannery in Kent and Rotary First Harvest have partnered to create, "Yes, we CAN!" a community canning initiative to benefit the food bank clients of South King County!Β  This project is a great way to engage with the fight against theΒ food insecurity and hunger faced by many of our neighbors.

Since September we have preserved over 30,000lbs of produce that would have otherwise gone to waste!Β  That's over 50,000 extra cans of highly nutritious food distributed to the more than 12,000 families who visit our food banks each month.Β

We are seeking volunteer groups and individuals (must be 16yrs or older)Β to help keep this incredible program running.Β  In May, June and July we will be canning on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am-4:30pm.Β  We can accomodate groups of up to 25 for the 9-1 shift, up to 15 for the 11:30-3:30 shift and 25 for the 12:30-4:30 shift.Β  Get a team together from your neighborhood, work, school, club or church and feed the hungry!!
