Bites Nearby: Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, where authentic cuisine is sampled, Mexican beers are plentiful and tequila is heated and enjoyed slowly in a brandy glass.  Then there is the rest of the population who find this day to be just one big party that usually starts at lunch and ends deep into the night.  Tequila is thrown back with salt and limes, tacos and bean dip are heavily consumed and all flavors of margaritas are blended and inhaled faster than the mixologists behind the bar can make them. 

It doesn't matter if you are one of the first or the latter of the Cinco de Mayo party crew because these spots around town have something for everyone.

1. 

The Yella Beak off of SE 436th is always a good place for a party and the 5th of May is no  exception.  There will be specials on Mexican beer of which Victoria, a new Mexican beer, will be introduced to the thirsty masses.  Tacos will be served at $1.50 each as well as their homemade specialty nachos.  Rumor is there will be some fun activities to take place so come on by.

Located on Griffin Ave., El Ranchito will be serving their normal Mexican fare but for today, special dinner and lunch combinations will be $1 off the usual price.  Mexican beers will be featured as well as margarita and other drink specials...perhaps a little tequila?

3. 

Mazatlan on Roosevelt Ave. is currently in the stages of preparing a special dish for today.  They have yet to announce what exactly what it will be so if you are the daring type, stop on in.  If you are not that adventurous and like to stick with what you know and love, then stop on by and try one of their various beers and margaritas which will be on special.

4. 

 If staying in downtown Enumclaw is on the agenda, be sure to stop by Cole Street Bar and Grill.  They will be featuring zesty home-made hard shell tacos at $1.50 each as well as a special authentic Mexican soup (Posole).  Wash down this spicy yumminess with an ice cold Mexican beer for $3.

5. 

Seeder's on Railroad St. will be partaking in the festivities with specials on tacos and chips and salsa for the low price of only $1!  Corona and Pacifico beers are also on special for $3 throughout the day.

Cheers to all on this Cinco de Mayo.  Celebrate, eat, drink and be merry but if you have too many poppers, watch out for the coppers!  In all seriousness, have fun, be safe and make sure to have a designated driver.
