Single Parent Meditation

Hopefully helpful hints from one who's been there.

Meditation and prayer are needed most by those least likely to have the time to set aside fifteen minutes once or twice a day:  single working parents with one or more children, trying to keep up with their activities, shopping, school requirements, bills, cooking (other than take-out), dealing with an ex-spouse, and the endless demands of relatives.  Not to mention the changing lifestyles of society and the children themselves.  Being over-tired and a little crazy get to be the norm.

Only time provides a complete solution.  The kids grow up and leave, etc.  However, there is spiritual help for those in these situations.  That help comes from within the individual person.  Repeat affirmations such as "I am energized by Spirit," or "My help cometh from the Lord," or "I believe in myself."  Remember that each task you do, no matter how monotonous or trivial, is a benefit to someone.  We all get faced with a screaming child (or someone else) accusing us of something we couldn't help.  Take a deep breath (you have to practice this) and know that another cannot touch the real you deep inside.  That real you is Love.
