
"The Neely Mansion History: Six Diverse Cultures, One Unique Place"
Meet Author and Architectural and Public Historian Sarah J. Martin as she discusses her new book reviewing the history of the Neely Mansion property. From a tribal gathering site, to the Neely family residence and later home to a number of immigrant tenant farming families, the book also discusses the restoration and current status as a community and regional landmark.
Sarah is the Principal/Historian at SJM Cultural/Resource Services, a historic preservation and public history consulting firm dedicated to helping clients identify, document and interpret historic places. As the newly-appointed Landmarks Program Lead at Historic Seattle, she leads The Landmarks Project, focused on increasing the number of landmark nominations submitted to the City of Seattle. She has assisted in drafting a number of King County Landmark nominations, including the amended/updated nomination for the Neely Mansion property.
