Cedar River Academy Sponsors Technology Club
This new technology club will be free to participants, except for a fee for project supplies, and will meet from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday afternoon beginning May 1.

Cedar River Academy is sponsoring a technology exploration club for 10, 11, and 12 year girls and boys in the Enumclaw area. Participants will explore a variety of scientific, engineering, and mathematical concepts while engaged in action based-projects. The projects will include constructing and testing model rockets, constructing and demonstrating robotic devices, computer programming, and other technically-based activities.
This new technology club will be free to participants, except for a fee for project supplies, and will meet from 3:30pm until 5:30pm each Wednesday after noon beginning May 1st. Weekly Technology Club meetings will continue through June, and then resume in September.

“Cedar River Academy applies its Student-Centered Education Model to transfer learning responsibility from teachers to students”, said Jared Mackenzie, Cedar River Academy Middle School teacher and Technology Club leader. “The Technology Club's first project will include the construction of model rockets, the study of the mathematics and physics involved in propelled flight, and documenting the project to create a digital portfolio of each students work.”
The CRA Technology Club will meet at the Cedar River Academy campus located at 3333 Griffin Avenue in Enumclaw. The materials fee for the model rocket project is $25 to acquire a model rocket for each student. As club sponsor, Cedar River Academy will provide facilities and project leadership. The Technology Club membership is initially limited to 18 students. Interested young people from the Enumclaw area should apply early by calling the CRA office at 360 825-8080 between 8:30am and 3:30pm, monday through Friday.

Cedar River Academy is a non-sectarian, non-profit, private elementary and middle school. At Cedar River Academy, students develop state mandated learning skills as they learn to think at high-levels, analyze information and solve problems in multiple ways. Academy teachers support individual students as they learn to read, write, master mathematics, become fluent in a foreign language, appreciate arts and music, and present their work.
