Wilderness adventures and outdoor preschool

SHADOW (Shadow Lake Nature Preserve)

SHADOW offers many different ways to experience and learn about the environment. There are weekly formal education programs, Wilderness Adventures and Outdoor Preschool, and private programs also can be scheduled. These programs use the SHADOW land to explore and learn with programs focused on wetlands, water, wildlife, and outdoor adventures.

Coming to SHADOW and participating in our education programs is a great way to get outside and reconnect with nature. Today there are many distractions for children from homework and organized sports to technology. It is easy to not make time to get out and enjoy our natural spaces. This is your opportunity to help your family reconnect with nature, learn, and have fun!

Programs are $5/person and it is best if you register by the Thursday afternoon before the program you want to participate in. Please contact info@shadowhabitat.org or 425-432-4914 if you want to register or have any questions.

Wilderness Adventures for ages 6+
Fridays, 4-6 PM
Wilderness Adventures is focused on children ages six and up and used inquiry based activities to learn about and explore our Bog and forests. Topics change each week and look at wetlands, water, wildlife, and getting outside.

Outdoor Preschool, ages 0-6
Fridays, 10 AM – 1 PM
Outdoor Preschool is a great program focused on younger, preschool aged children. During this three hour program children get outside, explore the bog and forests and learn about wetlands, water, wildlife, and getting outside. Children engage with nature and the SHADOW property through games, hands on activities, stories, and nature focused art projects. The program is flexible and you can come for part or all of the program.

Private Groups – all ages
Private groups also scheduled throughout the week. This can be for a tour of the boardwalk or an organized educational event. Please contact info@shadowhabitat.org or 425.432.4914 to set it up!
