Deadline to Register to Vote in Primary is Monday

You can sign up online; you have more time if you do it in person

If you want to vote in this year's Washington state primary and have not yet registered, you should know that the deadline to do so is Monday, July 18.

You can register online or by regular mail at theWashington State Secretary of State website. You can also see if you if you are already registered, in addition to updating your address or changing your name if required.

Races that have three or more candidates will face off in a primary on Aug. 16, with the top two vote-getters on the Nov. 8 general election. Races with only two candidates will not be on the primary ballot.

Enumclaw does not have any races with three candidates. In fact, only two races are contested for the November general election.

Richard Elfers, the incumbent in Position No. 2 on the City Council, will face local businessman Darrel Dickson, president of the Enumclaw Rotary Club.

And for the school District No.4 seat, Tina McGann, who previously served as PTA president at , faces Dan L. Peterson as incumbent Tim Nickson has decided not to run.

The deadline to vote in November's general election, if you have never registered or don't register for the primary, is Oct. 10.

If you are not registered in Washington, you can register in person at your County Elections Officeuntil the Monday one week before both election days.
