Gol fers beat Decatur
With a varsity squad made up of five underclassmen, Enumclaw Coach Bob Kilmer probably thought Decatur would be tough to beat next year. Hold on there, don’t forget this year. The Hornets barely beat Decatur 77-72 on their home course in a South Puget Sound League 3A matchup.
Two Hornets tied for medalist honors – both David Smith and Tyler Salsbury shot rounds of 36 for 17 points each. But Decatur’s squad showed more balance in the top six, led by freshman Spencer Clapp and sophomore Carsten Olofson, who both shot rounds of 39 for 14 points.
Rounding out Enumclaw’s varsity was Chase Doliver with a 38 for 15 points, Colton McCluskey with a 41 and 12 points, junior Jr Condon with a 47 for eight points, and sophomore Kolton Tinney with a 46 for eight points.
Just as in previous matches, Enumclaw showed its depth with four players on the junior varsity actually scoring better than two on varsity, and all six on JV doing just as well. The JV won 40-13, led by Beau Brock with a 40 for 13 points and Caleb Coulter with a 42 for 11 points.
Even a C Team member, Johnny Longley with a 41 for 12 points, outplayed two varsity performers as that squad beat Decatur 38-0.
