EHS Musicians Impress at Solo/Ensemble Weekend Content

Two performances -- a solo and large ensemble -- are headed to state competition in April.

Enumclaw High School's orchestra class made a strong showing at Saturday's Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest which took place at Kentridge High School, according to parent supporter Jody Horn, who passed along the following information to Patch, thanks to Karen Jarvis.

String musicians representing eight local high schools performed for professional adjudicators, hoping to advance to the state level of competition, which takes place at Central Washington University in April.

Seven soloists  and eight ensembles represented Enumclaw -- six of the seven soloists  received the highest rating of 'superior.' 

Violin: Kaelynn Dirks, First Place

Viola: Mary Jarvis, First Alternate

Two of the four small ensembles  received an 'excellent' rating and two received a 'superior.

Violin Duet: Kaelynn Dirks and Alyssa Hudon, First Alternate

Two of the large ensembles earned 'excellent' ratings and two received 'superior' ratings.

Quintet: Kaelynn Dirks (violin), Alyssa Hudon (violin), Anne Wolfe (violin), Mary Jarvis (viola), and Lori Lamm (cello), First Place

Enumclaw High School's performers were lauded for their high quality of preparation and performance.
