EHS Students Receive $5,000 Check Prize from Video Contest

News came in mid-February that Enumclaw High School students in Raeann Webb's Independent Living classes earned their school $5,000 by clinching the second place award in a video contest by LifeWise Health Plan of Washington promoting healthy living.

Last Friday, representatives from LifeWise and Treeswing were on hand to present the students with their cash prize. The School District Facebook page further elaborated it was Brittney Ketola who won the $5,000 for the school's Nutrition/PE program; students also received $50 Visa gift cards, $25 REI gift cards and other 'swag' from Lifewise.

Among those who worked on the project were: Kris Button, Bo Mongrain, Kylie Kapule, Alicia Woodford, Trevor Weeks, Brittney Ketola, Kylie Kuro and Halie Webster.

The Hunt 4 Health contest asked King and Snohomish county high school students to create an original video that answered the question: “What do you and your friends do to stay healthy and active?” The goal of the contest was to encourage teens to play an active role in their own health and give schools the tools to help improve their nutrition and physical activity programs. Achieving this goal is more important than ever because according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 25 percent of Washington youth are overweight, putting them at high risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer and asthma.
