Email to the Editor: Concerned Citizens Wary of Dickson's Interests

Bob & Becky Lee write to Patch about their concerns over Darrel Dickson's campaign for Position No. 2 on the City Council.

We're concerned when we hear Darrel Dickson presenting himself as the ONE with all the answers for the City of Enumclaw. Not to mention the fact we felt bowled over by the large Courier Herald center fold ad about himself. The city council has 7 members for a reason. It is so that we can have a diversified representation and that decisions being made are being considered from many angles for the good of all. A council person should be a team player, yet in his past dealings with the city council, even simply as a citizen rather than a council member, his approach has been abrupt and assertive. It seems he hopes for uncontested compliance with his wishes. Add to that two apparent conflicts of interest. First, his employee is effectively on the council since he is unopposed. And second, he owns potentially commercial property across the highway from the Enumclaw Expo Center which he hopes to privatize. That's not what we want to see in our city council members.
