Email to the Editor: Elfers Impresses with his Dedication to Community
Jim Niehoff writes to Patch about why he's supporting Rich Elfers for Position No. 2 on the Enumclaw City Council.

I am writing this letter in support of re-electing to our City Council position. I moved into this community 20 years ago and have known Rich since shortly after moving here. He has always impressed me as a man having a great love for our community, and the people living and working here. His broad base volunteer service to the community started long before first being elected on city council.
Rich has been very active in supporting our local food bank and the other services provided to those in our community in need at our Plateau Outreach Ministries. He has helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity. He has actively participated in fund drives that include Relay for Life, meals at Christmas and Thanksgiving for the needy, and serving dinners at the Senior Center. He has volunteered his time at our library in teaching English as a second language to new members of our community.
He is keenly interested in learning (and sharing his gained knowledge) as his teacher background would imply, and he seeks to hear both sides of any issue before making an informed decision. Therefore it did not surprise me when in a recent Courier Herald Letters to the Editor Rich received support from the president of the Mount Rainier Business Alliance due to Rich’s interest in learning how City Council decisions would impact our local businesses and our citizens.
Rich has taken the responsibilities in being Chair of the Finance Committee very seriously and does so by actively seeking advice from a variety of our business leaders in the community. He is just as open to listening to anyone in the community on any non-business issues, concerns, or complaints they may have with the City of Enumclaw.
In closing, Rich is a man of high integrity and honesty. His passion is to serve our Enumclaw community and to keep our quality of life. He is knowledgeable and hard working, seeking only what is best for our entire community. He has no business interests in the community, other than the interest to make this a business friendly community for all businesses equally. Through these very tough economic times during his first term, he has served us well. He has been a very positive influence on our community and will continue to do so if re-elected.
Please support him and our local community by re-electing Rich Elfers to our City Council.
Jim Niehoff
