Enumclaw Boy, 4, Dies After Wednesday Crash
The crash happened Wednesday morning in the northbound lanes of SR 169.

ENUMCLAW, WA - Washington State Patrol reported Friday night that a 4-year-old boy involved in a serious crash Wednesday along SR 169 has died. The boy was riding in a car with his mother when it was struck from behind by an SUV and hit by a semitrailer.
The crash happened around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday north of downtown Enumclaw near Bass Lake, according to state patrol. Kassandra Silveria, 26, of Enumclaw, was driving northbound near 383rd Street when she slowed down for stopped traffic. Sandra Swenby, 66, of Enumclaw, allegedly didn't see Silveria's stopped car, state patrol reported. Swenby's Subaru Forester rear-ended Silveria, and then Silveria's Honda Fit was pushed into the southbound lanes. Jerry Gibson, 54, of Silverdale, was driving a semitrailer southbound and hit Silveria's car.
Silveria and the 4-year-old were both taken to Harborview Medical Center. The boy was taken by helicopter, and Silveria by ambulance. Gibson and Swenby were not injured. The boy died around 3:30 p.m. Friday at Harborview.

Washington State Patrol reported "speed and inattentiveness" were factors in the crash. Charges are pending.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported how the crash happened. Swenby rear-ended Silveria's car, not the other way around.
