Plateau played a number of songs from their second album Albany Park that was released in December 2010.

The band was formed in Enumclaw in 2007 by Tuohy, bass player Allen Mitchell and drummer Alex Folkerth. Guitarist Matt Sweeney joined the group in 2007 and soon took Mitchell’s place as bass player. In December 2010, bass player Patrick Miller joined the band and replaced Sweeney.

The band has currently been based in Walla, Walla, Wash., at Whitman College where Tuohy, Folkerth and Miller attend college.

Tuohy and Miller graduated from Whitman in May. Tuohy earned a degree in economics and Miller earned a degree in mathematics. Folkerth is a senior and will be graduating in May 2012.

For the spring semester, Folkerth studied abroad in the Dakar region in Senegal, leaving Tuohy and Miller to practice without him. He returned in May giving the band three weeks to practice before last night’s show in Seattle.

β€œI was worried about not playing with the band the entire semester,” said Folkerth, 20. β€œBut when I got back we all clicked once we started jamming again.”

This is the band’s first time touring and traveling. Their tour starts in Seattle and heads down the West Coast with their final show at Bar Dynamite in San Diego, Calif., on Thursday, July 7.

β€œI am incredibly excited about touring,” said Miller, 22, from Redmond, Wash. β€œWho would have thought we’d be touring down the West Coast.”

Tuohy believes that touring is the last opportunity to see what they can do with Plateau. He said it is an ideal time for him to get out and do what he wants since he just graduated.

The band plans to record another E.P. to be released in July.
