First Enumclaw City Council Meeting of 2012 Tonight

Newly elected council members are sworn in at the first meeting of the new year tonight.

Newly elected councilmembers and take their respective seats in the first meeting in 2012 of the Enumclaw City Council tonight. They replace and Jeff Beckwith, respectively.

At the time of this posting, there was no agenda available for preview on the city's website. However, several topics remained not completely resolved at the last meeting of 2011 and so can be expected to be addressed in this new year, including a permanent funding solution for the Visitor Center currently run by the Enumclaw area Chamber of Commerce as well as the move toward a vote regarding annexation of the city library.

In December, the council approved $5,000 just to get the Visitor Center and Chamber going for the new year. Similarly, this is the first year in recent history that the city has not funded the library out of the general fund but instead put $350,000 toward it from a property management fund as an annexation vote is expected this April. Recently retired city library director Bob Baer reflected on the future of the library in .

Tonight's meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall and can be viewed on ECTV Channel 21.
