Great Escape: 253Heart Music & Arts Festival

Break away from kid-centered music and enjoy some adult rock.

There comes a point when the kids are picking up on too many lyrics and asking too many questions of our current playlists, which might include anything from Zac Brown Band to The Black Keys to Paul Simon. Then we must adapt our musical preferences to either something more fanciful (read: "Rocket Man") or something with mumbled lyrics (thank you, Eddie Vedder). If you currently find yourself in this position, this weekend affords the perfect opportunity to rock on with your bad self.

Escape to the land of grown-up music by immersing yourself into the local scene -- and for a good cause -- by supporting the 253Heart Music and Arts Festival this Friday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, Feb. 27.Β The suggested donation of $10 benefits KGHP radio, Gig Harbor and Peninsula High School's student run non-commercial radio station.

This second annual event, scheduled over two days, is chock full of local talent featuring more than 50 singers and bands – including top picks , Sweet Kiss Momma and Rane Stone – scheduled to play at Tacoma-area venues such as and The Hub.
