Great Escape: Head for a Washington Beach!

Start making plans to head for the beaches now and avoid the sticker shock of the peak season.  Although western Washington weather can prove to be iffy in late spring, a waterfront accommodation will make even the most blustery of beaches enjoyable.

Cama Beach cabins offer a world of rustic charm paired with some modern amenities.  Once featured in Sunset magazine as one of the Top 10 Hideaways by the Sea, this Camano Island State Park is located within 90 miles of Seattle and offers literally a beach-front view of Saratoga Passage.  Rich with history, this fishing location was once a Native American stomping ground for fishing and hunting.

The Cama Beach State Park is open year-round and also hosts free interpretive programs.  Donations are suggested.  The beach itself offers tranquility and relaxation as well as 15 miles of hiking trails or a boating workshop at the Center for Wooden Boats.

Bring your own groceries and brush up on your grill skills as most cabins do not have kitchen stoves.  Restrooms are also located outside the cabins in a nearby facility.  Cabin rentals start at $65 per night between April and October 15.
