Holiday Packages, Strollers Stolen and Multiple Doorbell Ringing Incidents Reported in Last Week of 2011 Police Blotter

A roundup of Enumclaw police reports from December 22 through December 29.

Thursday, December 22

Domestic Dispute: Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Initial Avenue at Railroad Street at 12:18 a.m. A man said his girlfriend hit him with a car, but he declined aid. Further investigation revealed the dispute was verbal only.

Police responded to a verbal dispute at a property on Battersby Avenue at 9:44 p.m.

Malicious Mischief: Police received a report at 11:22 a.m. that some type of garbage was thrown at the front door of a residence on the 3100 block of Garfield Street and had splattered all over the porch. It was determined it was some sort of pasta sauce.

Theft: Police responded to a report at 4:59 p.m. that someone tried to steal a package from a residence on Scandia Avenue. (see here for more info.)

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident on the 3100 block of Edith Avenue reported that around 12:30 p.m. she saw a man standing outside her door, claiming he'd gotten the wrong address but she was concerned he might have been trying to steal her packages. He was described as a Hispanic male in his mid 20s who was driving a blue Toyota 4Runner.

Friday, December 23

DUI: One person was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop on Griffin Avenue at 12 a.m. The passenger was also arrested for furnishing.

Suspicious Circumstances: Police responded to a report of a possible drug lab at a property on Battersby Avenue at 1:34 p.m. and found a container with an unidentified liquid inside. Police were checking if a pond on the property was contaminated.

Disturbance: A man reported at 6:25 p.m. that a woman kicked his car causing damage on Roosevelt Avenue East. The responding officer determined that he had nearly hit the woman pedestrian while driving recklessly in the parking lot. Both were counseled and released.

Saturday, December 24

Noise: Police received a complaint regarding the Crystal Saloon at 1:13 a.m. They heard nothing upon arrival and the soundproof shutters were closed.

Reported Gunfire: Police received a report at 1:37 p.m. from a resident on Gossard Street that he thinks he just heard gunfire. The responding officer found nothing out of the ordinary.

Sunday, December 25

Welfare Check: Police checked on a woman who was screaming in the area of Griffin Avenue at 12:23 a.m. She said she fell out of her brother's vehicle while getting out and he drove off and left the area. She declined aid.

Theft: Police received a report at 12:30 a.m. that a jogging stroller was taken from a property on Mountain View Drive.

Noise: Police received a complaint from a caller in the area of Mountain View Drive at 12:46 a.m. regarding the Crystal Saloon. The responding officer heard nothing upon arrival and the soundproof shutters were closed. The officer did contact staff and asked them to turn it down. 

Fight: Police responded at 9:07 p.m. to a report of a 74-year-old man who assaulted an employee at a property on Jensen Street. The officer determined no assault occurred. 

Monday, December 26

Vehicle Theft: Police received a report at 7:14 p.m. that several items including a .357 weapon, wallet with ID and credit cards were stolen from a vehicle parked on Griffin Avenue.

Tuesday, December 27

Suspicious Circumstances: A resident on Florence Street reported at 2:50 a.m. that someone rang the door bell and left. The responding officer found no one in the area.

Domestic Dispute: Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute at a property on Chinook Avenue at 10:43 a.m. between a granddaughter and her grandparents over a discipline issue. 

Assault: The victim reported at 11:54 a.m. a theft from his vehicle and his assault that took place on Roosevelt Avenue East.

One person was arrested for malicious mischief and assault following a report of an assault on D Court at 6:48 p.m.

Theft: A stroller was reportedly stolen from the back of the victim's truck on Florence Street within the last two days.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: A vehicle reported stolen was recovered on Blake Street at 5:48 p.m.

Wednesday, December 28

Malicious Mischief: Staff at a building on McDougall Avenue reported at 7:55 a.m. finding a detonated sparkler bomb taped to a window close by the staff lounge. There was minor damage.

Theft: Police received a report at 11:54 a.m. of the theft of items from an apartment on Chinook Avenue including a camera, laptop, and cash. 

Domestic Dispute: Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute at a property on Myrtine Street at 9:51 p.m.

Doorbell Ringers: Unknown subjects have reportedly been ringing the doorbell at a residence on Lincoln Avenue several times during the night. No one is there when they answer the door.

Someone rang the doorbell at a residence on the 1500 block of Semanski Street at 11:30 p.m. and then ran away. 

Disorderly Conduct: A man was arrested for disorderly conduct after police responded to a report of a possible assault at a property on Roosevelt Avenue at 11:05 p.m.

Thursday, December 29

Suspicious Circumstances: A citizen reported at 1:06 p.m. that a white male about 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a tan coat appeared to be following him as he walked his dogs in the area of Myrtle Avenue and Cole Street. When confronted, the subject left the area. The responding officer checked the area but was unable to locate anyone matching that description.

Harassment: A subject was served a trespass letter following a complaint of harassment at a residence on Wynalda Drive.
