Hornets Buzz by Peninsula in Golf Opener at Enumclaw

Depth of squad shows as 11 EHS golfers score in double figures.

Enumclaw High School opened its season Tuesday with an 85-70 win over Peninsula in a match at the Enumclaw Golf Course.

Senior Tyler Salsbury was the medalist with a 3 under score of 32 on the nine holes. He tallied 21 points with four birdies, four pars and one bogie.

Three other seniors also stood out for the Hornets. Colton McCluskey scored 17 points with a 36, Chase Doliver tallied 16 points shooting a 37, and David Smith shot a 40 for 13 points. Those four are captains of the squad.

Also for the varsity, Jr Condon, who is a junior, tallied 12 points with a 41 and sophomore Ian Runland shot a 48 for six points.

David Findlay led Peninsula with a 38 for 15 points.

Some of the junior varsity and C team golfers for Enumclaw actually played better on this day than some of the varsity members.

The JV team won 69-25 with sophomores Kolton Tinney and Thomas Hudon scoring a 37 and 42 for 16 and 13 points respectively. Freshman Caleb Coulter shot a 39 for 14 points and junior Beau Brock a 44 for 10 points.

For the C squad, which the Hornets won 41-0, junior Jason Weller shot a 39 for 14 points and freshman Nick Markonich a 40 for 13 points.
