KCLS Welcome Letter Headed to City Residents This Week

We want to thank city administrator Mike Thomas for passing along an electronic copy of a welcome letter that should be arriving in the mailboxes of Enumclaw city residents this week from King County Library System director Bill Ptacek.

The letter details some of the transition work happening behind the scenes this month as well as what library patrons can expect and can do now to begin utilizing KCLS services as of June 1.

One thing to note is that the Enumclaw library will maintain its existing hours as of June 1, but the service hours are expected to expand to 63 hours a week -- including Fridays and Sundays -- through the summer months.

New materials along with new computers and workstations and wireless Internet access will be installed. The goal is to make the transition as seamless as possible for patrons, and city library staff are working with KCLS staff to see to that.

Meanwhile, residents are encouraged to pop in and get your new KCLS library card if you don't yet have one.

While we're talking the library, the city website has also updated its annexation information page with some more background on KCLS services; and though it's now pretty moot, there is also a PDF of the 1989 cooperative use agreement the city entered into with KCLS - laid out in pre-Internet-era courier typeface. For history geeks, it's sort of a neat read to get a feel for what constituted a library collection before things went online!
