Library Director Bob Baer Honored for 30 Years of Service

In the last meeting of the Enumclaw City Council Monday night, Mayor Liz Reynolds, Council and members of the audience gave Bob Baer a standing ovation for his dedication to the community, ahead of his retirement at the end of the year.

Library Director is retiring at the end of the year, and the city of Enumclaw took the opportunity at Monday night's City Council meeting to thank him for all that he's done for the community.

Whether he was serving in his main role as the city's library director or rolling up his sleeves to help on the city's Human Services Advisory Board and the Senior Center, Baer has been a part of the city of Enumclaw for 30 years, said Mayor Liz Reynolds.

"You have grown our library," she said. "You have introduced to the citizens of Enumclaw the opportunity to retain the history of where they come from. ... Thank you for your dedication."

City staff, Council as well as members of the audience cheered Baer with a standing ovation.

"I want to thank the community for the chance to practice something that I like to do, and get paid for it -- and that's being a librarian," he said. "I extend my appreciation to the past and current library boards for all of their support and interest in the library, and to the library staff who every day make a very big effort at providing the very best library service that they can. ... and the Senio Center for making a great effort and providng the best service they can."
