Mountain View Fire and Rescue Levy Takes Tentative Lead
Preliminary results from King County Elections shows that approval for the levy proposal is leading with 56.39 percent of votes, but for this and other reasons, it's still too early to call it.

Voters in King County Fire Protect District No. 44 (Mountain View Fire and Rescue) appear to be giving their approval for a four-year maintenance and operations levy to support existing service levels in the district.
Preliminary results from King County Elections Tuesday night shows that 2,013 votes (56.39 percent) have been cast in support of the levy while 1,557 votes (43.61 percent) are against.
The lead could be distinct enough, but so far, only 3,570 votes have been tallied, and for this proposition to even be validated, .

Chief Greg Smith said Tuesday night that district leaders will wait and see how the numbers change as the ballots that were turned at the 8 p.m. deadline Tuesday get counted.
The issue requires a 60 percent 'yes' vote with a minimum number of 2,390 'yes' votes to pass. If it fails, said Smith, more cuts are likely.
