Mushroom Pickers Find Human Skull Near Greenwater
The mushroom pickers discovered the skull along a Forest Service road, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

GREENWATER, WA - A human skull was found Monday in a wooded area near Greenwater by mushroom pickers, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office. The skull was found off a Forest Service road and was covered in moss. The sheriff's office and the Pierce County Medical Examiner are trying to find out who the skull belonged to.
The skull was found off NFS Road 70, which runs between the Greenwater and White rivers and crosses SR 410 southeast of Greenwater.
Police told the Tacoma News-Tribune that the skull could belong to anyone from a lost hiker to a person who committed suicide. However, the stretch of 410 between Enumclaw and east of Greenwater was used a dump site for serial killer Gary Ridgway, also known as the Green River Killer. Police found the remains of three of Ridgway's victims along 410 in the 1980s; and after his capture, Ridgway led police to the remains of a fourth person off of 410 in 2003.
