Dear 12th Man:
As arguably the most insanely hyped sporting event to hit the City of Seattle descends upon us come Sunday evening as the Seahawks get ready for round one of hopefully three clashes with the dreaded San Francisco 49ers. I write this letter to the 12th Man about it being time to raise the bar of conducting yourselves and not taking the bait of the criminal element that is the front runner 49er fan that is only looking for trouble at CenturyLink Field. Ever since Pete Carroll has come to Seattle he has preached competition with his players and everyone within the organization. 12th man, you have an unbelievable opportunity to witness an epic statement game on Sunday night every ticket holder owes it to themselves to do everything possible to keep the focus on the 53 players suiting up as Seahawks. It is about them not taking the bait of the criminal element 49er fan and starting fights.
That is not the point of paying obscene ticket prices and getting intoxicated beyond belief for this game. It is about about 67,000 fans banding together as one and competing like crazy to break the Guinness Book of World Records and competing in the spirit of the Win Forever philosophy to break that record.
It is also about setting a tone for the 2013 season to the rest of the National Football League that besides being a Super Bowl contender on the field , that Seattle has a Super Bowl caliber fan base in the stands that intimidates through noise and not needless physical violence that puts people in jail and misses out what hopefully is another epic destruction of the 49ers similar to last December. What Sunday is also about is us as fans raising the bar and continuing to be the gold standard of carrying having most intimidating home field advantage in professional sports in the fiercely competitive that I have no doubt will rise up on Sunday evening and help propel Russell Wilson and company to a victory. Thank you for reading, and in honor of Cortez Kennedy," God Bless America and God Bless the Seattle Seahawks."
Go Hawks,
Scott Whittum
