Pictures from the Artists' Studio Tour

Here's the third set of pictures from this very full weekend. The Garden Club Plant Sale was right next to Arts Alive, so we started the Artists' Studio Tour there. Lorrie Maras' watercolor class was in session and several artists were at work or displaying exhibits: palette-knife artist Nancy Cary, Ed Konvalin from On the Pond Pottery, and photographer Mary Janosik. Down the street we found Gary LaTurner setting up for work at Studio 54. This was also another chance to explore Enumclaw's newest gallery. We had time before lunch for our first-ever visit to the Hot Shop at Enumclaw High School, where glassworks teacher Randy Cook and a student were demonstrating glass-blowing. We watched from the cool outdoors--it gets 90 degrees in that little room! Other students from glass and jewelry classes were displaying and selling their art (my take-home treasure for the day was a beautiful pendant made by one of them).

Between attending the museum's grand re-opening and the chorale's presentation we stopped at Etsat Studio, where Samantha Rheinford was creating another stunning piece for her jewelry line. Fiber artist Cheryl Berglund, along with trees and elves, had joined her in the studio.  Wish we had had time to see the whole tour--we'll be watching for other chances to visit the artists' studios. (Meanwhile, the works of at least some of them can be seen at Arts Alive).

We snapped pictures all day and I'm posting some here in orderly fashion, fairly confident (and temporarily accepting) that they will present as another hodge-podge. Sorry about that. The other choice is to wait until the system is working, or not to post them at all, but I'm just sure (?) somebody who missed the tour wants to see that working Hot Shop and some of our local artists. We are thinking that maybe sometime today the kinks will be out of New Patch--we heard "by the end of the week" last week so it must be getting close, and then we can do repair work as needed. However they show up here, we do appreciate the artists in our community and the beauty they contribute to our world. Thanks, artists, for sharing on this tour day!
