Police News in King County, Black Diamond, Covington and Maple Valley

Black Diamond

On April 1 at 8:05 p.m. on the 31100 block of 3rd Ave., officers were dispatched for a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival, officers contacted all involved parties. Ultimately, the aggressor was arrested and statements taken from the victim and witnesses. The call was cleared without further incident.

On April 1 at 7:24 p.m. on the 25400 block of Cumberland Way, officers were dispatched due to a noise complaint. Upon arrival, loud music was heard being played from within the home. Homeowners were contacted and advised of the City Municipal Code, to which they complied. Officers issued a verbal warning and cleared this scene without any further incident.

On April 1 at 5:35 p.m. on the 28800 block of 216th Ave. SE, officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was then discovered that the driver of the vehicle was driving with a suspended license, and the passenger subject of an outstanding arrest warrant. The passenger was taken into custody, and the driver cited and released at the scene.

Covington

On March 24 at 3:20 p.m. on the 26300 block of 200th Ave. SE, a resident heard something near the front door of her residence and went to the door thinking it was a mailman delivering a package. However, when she opened the door, she observed a female with dark sunglasses carrying the package from the resident’s porch to the female’s vehicle. The resident confronted the female and retrieved the package of auto parts. At about the same time as the female was leaving; the resident’s husband arrived and attempted to catch the female, to no avail.

On March 23 at 5 p.m. on the 17100 block of SE 272nd St., two females were observed selecting multiple blood pressure monitors from the shelves. After walking around the business for a few minutes, the females then ran out with the cart of 5 monitors without attempting to purchase them and left the scene in a vehicle.

On March 22 at 9 p.m. on the 16700 block of SE 272nd St., a female was observed selecting several items, removing the tags and placing them in a large bag. She then bypassed all cashiers without attempting to purchase the items and left the business. The female was contacted and then booked into SCORE (South Correctional Entity) for investigation of Theft, 3rd degree.

King County

On April 4 between 12:01 a.m.-11 a.m. on the 17500 block of 151st Ave. SE, someone pried open an entire bank of mailboxes.

On April 3 at 9:02 a.m. in the area of SE 252nd St. and Summit/Landsburg Rd., a male with a vehicle that had an expired report of sale backed into the gate of a business. The male stated that he was having taillight problems.

On March 29 at 12:32 a.m. in the area of SE 216th and SR 169, a female driver passed out in her vehicle while parked at a fuel pump for an hour and a half. Upon contact, the female stated that she was homeless and waiting for someone. The female moved her vehicle to a parking lot across the street for the night.

On March 29 at 7:30 a.m. on the 25600 block of Summit Landsburg Rd. SE, several students received texts telling them not to go to school for fear of an active shooter event. There was another account in another nearby school district that, following an investigation, turned out to be a hoax. Upon contacting a student at home, who had been texting the information to students, it was learned that she had received it from a social media posting that was posted for a short time before being remove. Staff and parents were notified to contact police if there were any other postings.

On March 28 at 8:33 p.m. in the area of SE Petrovitsky Rd. and 196th Ave. SE, a deputy was dispatched to a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, a male was contacted that fit the description of a male swinging a sword at vehicles passing by. The male stated he did not do anything wrong, then finally admitted he actually had a fishing pole he dropped at the side of the road when he say the deputy. The fishing pole was located a number of feet up the road. The male was released as a sword could not be found or confirmed that it ever was involved.

On March 26 at 3 p.m. on the 17200 block of 140th Ave. SE, a deputy was dispatched to a business where the driver of a vehicle was observed fleeing the scene in a reckless manner of running a stop sign and nearly hitting two vehicles. Prior to the incident, two males had entered the business and stole approximately 15 packages of various brand shoe insoles along with other items.

Maple Valley

On March 25 at 9:09 p.m. on the 23800 block of Maple Valley Black Diamond Rd. SE, a vehicle was observed without any license plates. Upon contact, the male driver was asked for his keys to the vehicle to which he responded that he could not because the key did not work. Check of the male revealed he had a suspended license for unpaid tickets. According to the female passenger, the vehicle had been purchased by her relative and was given to her. She also had a handwritten letter from the relative supporting her statement. The male was cited for Driving While License Suspended, 3rd degree as well as was issued an infraction for Operating vehicle without insurance and Operating vehicle without proper/current plate. The vehicle was impounded.

On March 25 at 6 p.m. on the 23000 block of SE 247th Ct., an officer was dispatched to a possible overdose on methamphetamine. Upon arrival, the male was on the floor being monitored before being transported to a local hospital. According to a relative, the male was a recovering addict that recently went back to drug use following a breakup.

On March 23 at 12:50 a.m. on the 22100 block of SE 237th St., a male and female were observed entering a business separately and then each taking a reusable grocery bag from a display in the business. They then proceeded to pack their bags with health and beauty items before meeting up. The male put most of the items in a bag he was carrying with additional items concealed in his jacket. The female also concealed her items in a bag she was carrying. Then each exited the business at different times without attempting to pay for the items.
