Apple Inc. co-founder Steve Jobs died Wednesday. He was 56.
The company's homepage featured simply a photo of Jobs and his years of birth and death.
"Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives," Apple's board of directors said in a statement Wednesday night. "The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.
"His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."

Jobs had battled health problems, including pancreatic cancer, and stepped down as CEO in August. Tim Cook then took over that role.
