PSE Equipment Failure in Krain Corner Area May Have Sparked Flashes This Morning

Residents in the area of Krain Corner may have seen two flashes this morning that appear to be connected to a power failure that affected 920 customers Wednesday morning.

Roughly 920 Puget Sound Energy customers in the Enumclaw/Krain Corner area lost power for one-and-a-half hours this morning due to some equipment failure, a company spokesperson said today.

Just before 7 a.m., there was a failure in the area where the underground cables connect to overhead power lines, Dorothy Bracken said. This may have caused two bright flashes that residents in the area reported seeing.

It was unclear if the failure was weather-related. Crews restored power by 8:30 a.m. And as of this afternoon, there were no outstanding power failures in the Enumclaw area, she said.
