Public Hearing on 268th Avenue S.E. Annexation Tonight

The Enumclaw City Council will hold the first of two public hearings regarding the annexation of 101 acres, or 42 parcels of real property at it's meeting tonight.

If you live in or near the proposed 268th Ave S.E. annexation area, or simply have an opinion on the city of Enumclaw's latest annexation that is under consideration, there is a public hearing on this very issue during the Enumclaw city council meeting tonight.

The annexation area encompasses 42 parcels on 101 acres and is located north of city limits along 268th Ave S.E. between S.E. 424th Street and S.E. 432nd Street.

Along with the proposed annexation is a proposed zoning regulation of R-2 moderate density single family residential district and R-1 low density single family residential district that would become effective upon annexation. An R-2 designation represents 5.2 dwelling units/acre while an R-1 designation represents 2.9 dwelling unites/acre.

Kelli Uhde, a resident who currently lives in the area, wrote to the city on Feb. 16 indicating that she was opposed to the annexation. "I have had no problem with aid cars, police or fire department, they have responded within minutes," she wrote. "We moved here 35 years ago, and chose to live out of city limits. We are in a nice quiet area, and want it to remain the same."

Agree or disagree with Uhde, tonight is your chance to let the city council know where you stand. The council will also have the first reading of the ordinance related to this annexation and zoning. No action is taken during a first reading.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
