Second Public Hearing on 268th Ave SE Annexation During Council Meeting Tonight

The Enumclaw City Council is expected to vote on the annexation and zoning following this second hearing.

The first hearing took place at the Feb. 27 meeting. The annexation area encompasses 42 parcels on 101 acres and is located north of city limits along 268th Ave S.E. between S.E. 424th Street and S.E. 432nd Street.

Along with the proposed annexation is a proposed zoning regulation of R-2 moderate density single family residential district and R-1 low density single family residential district that would become effective upon annexation. An R-2 designation represents 5.2 dwelling units/acre while an R-1 designation represents 2.9 dwelling unites/acre.

John Casey, a resident in the annexation area, wrote to the city in favor of the annexation. Having lived in the city of Enumclaw for nine years and then on 268th Avenue S.E. for more than 27 years, Casey wrote, "I would like to take advantage of the opportunities the annexation would make and believe the homeowners in this area will not have this opportunity again any time in the near future."

Agree or disagree with Casey, tonight is your chance to let the city council know where you stand. The council then reviews the second reading of the ordinance related to this annexation and zoning and is expected to vote on it.
